As a member, when you have a problem or a question about school law or your
employment rights,
TSTA Help Center
is available. The Help Center is
open 7
AM to 7 PM
every school day during the school year, and from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer.
Also available to
members:
Liability Coverage
$6 million liability protection is automatic with your TSTA/NEA
membership. It includes civil rights coverage, criminal suits protection
when exonerated, bail bond, and assault-related personal property
damage. The details of coverage provided by the insurance policy are
available to members upon request.
Experienced Attorneys
Along with the liability coverage, you have six staff attorneys and a
network of outside attorneys all of which make up a top-notch legal team to
protect your employment rights. Every year, TSTA spends more than a quarter
of a million dollars on cases approved for legal action. And once a case is
approved, TSTA won't send you a bill for attorneys' fees!
Attorney Referral
Program
In addition, TSTA
sponsors an
Attorney Referral Program in most areas around the state - - for
personal legal consultations. Members may receive two, free
30-minute consultation sessions with a TSTA referral attorney during any
membership year (from Sept.1- Aug. 31).
Defense Funds
NEA spends more than $14 million each year for legal support of members
through the NEA Unified Legal Services Program, which shares in funding
by state associations including TSTA.
